I've decided to take a vacation in a month. I'm going to forget all about this studying mode that I'm in and visit my daughter in Boise for a little over a week. I haven't seen her new home yet, and I sure miss my granddaughter, Abby. It's going to be good to get away, but it can't come soon enough. I've decided, however, that I ALMOST know everything I'm going to need to know to pass my test next month, so my study time is getting sparser and I'm beginning to live again a little. I'm taking a little time out for myself--for relaxation. I'm going to plant peas out in our soggy garden plot next week, for instance. Wish I could figure out how to post pictures so I could show you the progress, but I don't have time for that quite yet. Maybe Amy will enlighten me one of these days on that feature of blogging.
Today in Testimony Meeting Todd, a policeman in our ward commented on his job that took him to Trolley Square shortly after the shooting. He called it "carnage." He told us that the teachings of the gospel about the purpose of this earth life and the sealing powers helped him to cope with all the sadness and senselessness of that situation. He also said that boy's father had expressed his admiration for the "Mormon's attitude of forgiveness" that had been displayed toward his son, and Todd said that he hoped that might open a door for the father to eventually listen to the gospel message. One can only hope for a bright outcome for such a tragedy in the lives of other people.

Is it time to plant peas even though it might snow again? Yikes!
