Revision

I just got done reading the last few posts Amy wrote on her private blog--after I wrote my first post of today. Wow! I love to read her thoughts; I discover things about my daughter that I never knew--or maybe had forgotten. And I've revised my opinion of writing in my blog.

Yes, Amy, I, too, even though not yet 86, was once young like your patient--and oftentimes wonder who this older face is looking back at me in the mirror. I ran away from home to be with your father when I was 17. I did silly things (well, I still do, of course)--and had a YOUNG life, like all YOUNG people. Your grandmother, too. It's fun to get her talking about her childhood and her young adulthood. Ever do that? She's got a lot to tell. You'd be amazed at what she's done, been through, and knows. Did you know that she knows how to ride bareback? If you want to know all about her, ask! She's very able and willing to talk. Time is precious--not a thing to be wasted.

I'm sorry your friend is moving, Amy. I know how much she means to you. I've had a lot of my friends move on. My friendships have been different than yours, in most respects. Mostly, when my friends move on, I'm the one who tries to keep it going. It seems that not many people ever come back searching for me. But I try to find people--and am successful sometimes. Just this past week I found Sonja, my friend from high school/Girl Scouts. We haven't been in touch since Phil died. I suddenly found that I needed and wanted her back in my life. She's still in California. Maybe I'll drive out to see her sometime soon. Northern California--not too bad.

Anyway, reading Amy's blog has given me the idea to share more of my thoughts. Not that I spend a lot of time at the computer, but I could, if I thought my blog (and its associated thoughts) might interest people. Now, I just hope that I'll be able to schedule the time to update this so that Amy won't be disgusted with me for not sticking to my goals!

I've read this post before but now I wanted to add something. I have a friend, Katie, who prints her blog out every year and puts it in a notebook and calls it her journal. I think it's a great idea and a good way to keep pictures with your journaling. Just a thought for you.
