I was released from prison on Monday. No, not Sing-Sing or "up the river" anywhere else--a prison of my own making. Actually, Amy originally sent me there. She made me feel so...well, guilty for being afraid to take the national massage exam for licensing. I think I probably enrolled just to shut her up! (Not really.) Anyway, as soon as I applied, the clock began ticking and I was incarcerated. But my prison sentence was up and they opened the doors to me, offering me my freedom, at noon this past Monday. What a glorious day that was! I still can't believe I did it...but what should I expect? I studied and studied and studied some more. And then they STILL came up with questions about things I had never run across. But I passed and now I have a permanent license and I can continue to do what I love and keep my wonderful clients and best of all--report at my temple recommend interview that I AM honest!!! How good it will be to look at the Bishop and know that I'm not accepting money for massages without being licensed.
I feel especially blessed today because I got to watch Natalie for 3 hours while Amy interviewed at Holladay Healthcare. Nat and Grandma got to wander the halls and the green spaces outside, picking up pinecones, swinging and singing...like the old times when I watched her a couple of years ago.
And then, on my way home from work, something told me to stop at Deseret Industries. I thought I might look for a picture frame for my license--and I found a wonderful one--but I wasn't prepared for the most incredible find--a chest of drawers almost exactly like the one Ellen and I bought at a thriftstore in Boise for Abby (NO particle board!) This chest is in great shape, and is already white (we'll have to put one more coat of paint on it, though.) I snatched it right up, had it loaded into my car, and it's now sitting in my garage, awaiting a trip to Boise in June. It will be Will's chest of drawers. I wonder if Ellen and I will put decals on it like we did Abby's?
Tomorrow I play the organ for the Saturday evening session of stake conference. I LOVE doing that! I played for a Sunday session once back in Iowa.
Well, that's my life for now. Back to my iridology--and now, for some reason, the studying that I have been doing for the past few years doesn't seem quite so hectic. It's all perspective, isn't it?
