My old friend is gone
George Dibble, a patient at the nursing home, died on Saturday. He was my "birthday buddy" because we were both born in September. He was only about 40 years older than me, but we were still "Virgoes together." He's my OLD friend--in years, not in time. I only knew him 2 years. What a nice man. I know his life was a little sad because his wife died many years ago and they had no children. He had a niece in the area, I was told, but I never saw anyone visit him. I'm sure he did have visitors, but never while I was there. Dr. Fehlhauer got emotional when he had to tell George that he was dying. People said that they'd never seen the doc get emotional over a patient dying before. George was that kind of guy--so nice and polite--hard to hate! So, I've lost two very good friend/patients at the nursing home where I work in 2 years. Others have died, but I wasn't close to them. I find myself distancing myself more and more. It hurts.

I remember George but just vaguely. Sorry that happened. Just so you know and I might have told you this already but it was Bonnie's funeral that caused me to come back to church, so maybe that was for a good reason. Don't distance yourself though - they're worth knowing!
